Equity Methodology

We employ a common methodology to all our Equity Funds and portfolios that incorporates both top down and bottom-up analysis when selecting the securities in which we invest. This is consistent with the way Ashburton manages all the money entrusted to us by clients, regardless of size or mandate. Utilising an integrated quantitative and qualitative stock selection process we invest in companies which we like and deliver the best GARP (growth at a reasonable price.)

Our Equity Funds are unconstrained relative performance Funds. We run them with the same commitment and active management style as our other Funds and portfolios. The Equity Fund managers are not index trackers and take a flexible approach to investing. Benchmarks are solely used as a reference point and do not dictate country, sector or stock weightings used in the portfolios. This approach allows us to ensure that they are adapted easily to harness opportunities and defend against threats creating superior long-term performance.

This proven methodology ensures that our clients' assets are at the leading edge of investment thinking and they can relax safe in the knowledge that they are benefiting from a robust and proven process delivering consistent and repeatable returns. That is our commitment.

Ashburton's International Equity Funds

The objective of the Sterling and US Dollar International Equity Funds is to maximise capital growth in base currency terms by investing primarily in a portfolio of international equities. Investment will be made primarily in companies of substance and financial strength, with demonstrably superior management skills. The methodology applied ensures we invest in companies with steadily improving earnings for investors. Both Funds are managed by Investment Manager Ian Leverington in Jersey , the first person in the United Kingdom to earn the right to use both the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Market Technician designations.

Ashburton's Regional Equity Funds

The objective of these Funds is to achieve long-term capital growth through a diversified portfolio of Equity or equity-related investments in companies incorporated in each Fund's respective region. They focus on the quality and attractiveness of individual companies rather than the outlook for particular markets. These Funds are also available in sterling as well as their base currency.

Americas Equity Fund PC: The principal areas for investment in this Fund are the USA, Canada and the markets of Latin America. This US dollar based Fund is managed by Investment Manager Nick Skiming. He is assisted by Jonathan Aldrich-Blake. More information

Asia Pacific Equity Fund PC: Investment is primarily in the stockmarkets of Asia, Australasia and the Pacific Basin. This US dollar based Fund is managed by Investment Manager Jonathan Schiessl, who was previously selected to join a panel of trendsetters' by the Asian Wall Street Journal due to the strong performance of the Fund. Chindia Equity Fund PC: Investment in this exciting new Fund is primarily in the stockmarkets of China and India. This US dollar based Fund is one of the first Chindia Funds available to the market, giving access to both of these vibrant emerging markets. The Fund will also invest in companies traded in other markets where a significant proportion of growth in their underlying business is set to derive from China or India. The Chindia Equity Fund is also managed by Jonathan Schiessl, with support from the other regional managers. More information

Ashburton's Regional Equity Fund Service continues to grow

Ashburton is adding to its successful Equity service range with the introduction of the exciting new Chindia Fund. What's more, we are also launching, for the UK market, four sterlingbased Feeder Funds that each invest in one of our regional Equity Funds. The new Funds open for subscription on 10 November 2006 and launch on 1 December 2006. Our regional Equity Funds continue to generate impressive returns on a 3 year rolling basis, with each of them consistently ranked in the top quartile amongst their respective universe.

Update

"The three regional equity funds that were part of Ashburton International Management Limited were successfully transferred to Ashburton Global Funds Protected Cell Company on 8th November 2006.

The regional equity funds remain the same funds, they just have slightly different names and sit under a different umbrella. Consequently, all their historic price and performance history remains attached to them as before.
